Reimagining Pret for the twilight hours - a new dining experience that blends fine dining charm with Pret’s signature casual feel.

As Pret A Manger explored new ways to grow beyond the lunchtime rush, the Good Evenings concept invited customers to experience the brand in a completely new light - quite literally. Introducing wine, beer and an elevated evening menu, the aim was to transform Pret from a quick stop to a destination worth spending a good evening in.

This pilot at London’s Strand store reimagined the space from day to night, evolving the environment through breakfast, lunch and dinner. The design challenge was to create a more intimate, atmospheric experience without losing the brand’s accessible charm.

We turned down the lights - both physically and visually. Pret’s familiar white backdrop gave way to deep black canvases, becoming the perfect stage for a playful new series of bespoke artworks. A moon made from cheese, an owl crafted from pineapple and a glowing pepper nightlight brought a sense of wit and warmth to the interior.

Attention to detail extended into every element of the dining experience. Menus were engraved with whimsical sayings and bespoke crockery elevated the service while remaining recognisably Pret. Being situated in the heart of London's West End, tableware was printed to revealed food-inspired musical quotes as guests finished their meal.

The centrepeice of the interior was a wooden clock that illuminated “Good Evenings” at 6pm each night, marking the transition from coffee to cocktails with a sense of quiet theatre. The space itself reflected this evolution - engraved glassware, placemats and wood-printed art gave the shop a sophisticated glow.

The success of the Strand pilot led to the concept being rolled out to further city locations.
